FU-0092 Birch polypore
Description: A wide-angle view of a large birch polypore fungus (Piptoporus betulinus) growing on the trunk of an old birch tree in a Norfolk wood in autumn. This species attacks both the heartwood and sapwood and eventually causes the top of the tree to fall out. An alternative common name is razor-strop fungus.
